High-end vs Drugstore

There’s so much controversy over whether high end products are worth the hype and are genuinely better products or is just a waste of money compared to drugstore. So today I thought I’d come back with another beauty post and share my opinion.

Foundations

Honestly, I do not have tonnes of money to spend on various high end products so when I find a drugstore product I love I never go back. I watch a lot of YouTube and have watched many reviews on makeup products, which influences the products I buy. For a long time I used the Mac Studio Fix foundation and honestly looking back now I hate it, I would never go back to that product. In all honesty I think the name of the brand helps to sell their products when realistically the formula’s horrendous. If you read my holy grail post you’ll know that the foundation I always go back to is the MaxFactor Skin Luminizer foundation. The Mac foundation is Ā£23.50, whereas the MaxFactor foundation retails for only Ā£13, proving that expensive isn’t always better than cheap! I get through foundations so fast I will always stick to drugstore.

Eye shadows

Next makeup item is eye shadows. I feel like this is the only category where you can see a significant different when comparing high end and drugstore. Don’t get me wrong there are some great palettes that are at a cheap price like the Revolution palettes, but I will always love my high end palettes. Most drugstore palettes I have tried have had horrendous pigmentation or are really chalky, leaving loads of fall out. My favourite brands for eye shadows are Tarte, Urban Decay and Anastasia Beverly Hills. So I would rather spend the extra money on a palette that will last me years and that I swear by.

Lips

This is the last category I am going to talk about and I don’t really have a verdict because both high-end and drugstore are amazing. I don’t own many high end lipsticks, the only ones I do are Mac and its probably my favourite. For drugstore brands the ones I love are Nyx, Rimmel and Collection. I think it is easy to pick up some good drugstore lipsticks, I always opt for a matte shade. I would love to try new brands for lipsticks so if you have any recommendations be sure to let me know in the comments.

Thank you for reading!

Awesome comparisons (: my favorite brand to use on my lips is Clinique cause I can’t stand anything drying my lips out and all the products I’ve used by them are super soothing and good to sensitive lip skin!

I agree with you. I rarely buy expensive high-end products because drug store products are usually just as good. Cheaper eyeshadows, like you said, usually end up not being the greatest though.
