It is my last year of being a teenager and there are so many things I would tell my younger self so I have narrowed it down to 5!
Get your eye brows done by a beautician
The amount of people I have spoke to that have had so many eyebrow horror stories. I remember one time I shaved half my eyebrow off because I thought I had a mono-brow. As you can imagine that didn’t go as well as planned.
Do your research before getting piercings and tattoos.
I got a tattoo impulsively when I was 16, and yes I was underage so you can just about visualise how dodgy the tattoo parlour was to allow that haha. I mean it was a decent job but definitely not at an amazing standard (don’t worry I have it redone and fixed now). But its going to be on your body forever so do your research and take the time to find the right tattoo artist.
Health comes before education.
As you all know struggles with my mental health have been a huge part of my teenage life and school was so shit because of it. My attendance went from 95% to 60% and I was adamant that my lack of presence would make me fail and ruin my chances in the future. Admittedly I did pass my GCSE’s but to be honest it wouldn’t of mattered if I didn’t because college gives you so many opportunities depending on whether you have GCSE’s or not.
You don’t need to weigh the same amount as you did when you were 12.
I spent so long battling with my body image and my weight. If you didn’t read my eating disorder post you can find it here. Once you hit puberty there are so many body changes but I promise it is not a bad thing.
There is no ideal age to lose your virginity.
During school the talk of sex started when I was about 13. I used to think there was so much pressure to lose it at the perfect age, it was so hard to find the right age of not being a slut or frigid. But really no-one gives a shit. Only have sex when you’re ready, don’t let anyone pressure you.
What would you say to your younger self?
