I am back again with the second instalment of the Testing Beauty Products series and were here today testing Poundland beauty. Before you read on make sure you have read my first review of the series here.
Starting with a lip product, I religiously wear a matte lip product, it is very rare you see me wearing a gloss. My first impression is that this is a dupe to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, and if you have read any of my other beauty reviews then you will know how much I love NYX lip products. Comparing the Poundland to the NYX there are a lot of similarities with the packaging and the formula, I am pleasantly surprised with how moisturising it is.
However, when applying the product you really need to spend a long time building the product up to create an even, opaque coverage, but once it is on it does feel very comfortable on the lips. I got the colour Latte and if I’m being honest I am not mad on the colour, it is a little too light for me so it looks a little like concealer lips haha. On lighter skin tones I am sure it would look good. I wouldn’t really recommend this product to be honest and would rate it a 3/10.
May or may not of got nail varnish to match the lip colour haha! To start with the brush isn’t the greatest, the bristles were all over the place as if the brush has been dropped a few time, whether this was an one off or if they are all like this I do not know. I used two coats of this and it has a good finish, the formula isn’t either too gloopy or too runny. Comparing this to the Primark nail varnish I reviewed I do prefer the Primark one as it didn’t chip as quickly. But overall for a cheap nail varnish it is good! So I would rate this 5/10.
Okay so this is hands-down my favourite item out of this haul and I highly recommend it. I used two coats to make my lashes look full and I would repurchase this. At the moment my go to mascara is the Bourjois Push up Volume Glamour and it they have a similar finish. The wand is flexible and plastic so it catches every lash and definitely creates a lengthening effect. However, the only thing you need to be aware of is that it is not waterproof at all, so if you are like me and your eyes water a lot then expect your mascara to run! If you like a clumpy mascara this isn’t for you as the brush helps to separate each lash. But I absolutely love it, so I will be giving this a 7/10. I couldn’t find the exact product on the website so linked is the closest I could find.
I hope you liked the second instalment of the series and if you have any other brands you want me to review next let me know in the comments!
