Blogging Pet Peeves

I have seen similar posts like this float around for a while now and I absolutely love reading them, they are just so real and relatable. I typically keep my blog very positive but in real life I love a good rant haha! So today I will be sharing my blogging pet peeves – however, my intentions are not to offend anyone.

One of my favourite parts about blogging is the communication. I like to think that I have reached a stage in my blogging journey where I am surrounded by bloggers who I consider my friends and the way we started talking was through post interactions (linked at the bottom of this post). This brings me onto my first and biggest pet peeve – ignoring comments. I absolutely hate when you take the time to read and comment on someones post and they completely ignore it.

I am all for a good bit of self promo – but not on someone else’s post. As you know I am forever referring back to previous posts and linking my social media on weekly blog posts, but I wouldn’t ever link them in the comments on someone else’s post and it grates on me when other people do it haha! Ugh can you not.

Admittedly when I started off blogging my photos were pretty shit and I am not exactly a talented photographer so this may be a tad hypocritical. But photos for me are a make or break thing about whether I click on and read your posts. You can always tell the amount of effort someone puts into their posts by looking at their photos haha.

Lack of grammar makes me instantly cringe. It makes a potentially good post look messy and rushed. Most laptops will identify any spelling/grammar mistakes, but phones won’t. I know everyone doesn’t have computer access but the phone format sucks.

The lovely people I want to show a little love to are: Cocochlo, Cassixmakeup, Thekeytokayleigh, Chelseasguide and Britney. Thank you for the constant support!

What are your pet peeves?

I hope you all enjoyed and see you next Friday!

Love this! Could not agree more with all of it but particularly the interaction section. How would we have started chatting if one of us had ignored the other?! Just no reason for it! Thank you for the love at the bottom of the post! Couldn’t be more glad that your blog was one of the first I came across 😘💕

Thank you so much for the mention at the bottom hun! I always love reading your posts and I totally agree with the interaction section, I feel so humbled when anybody comments on my posts and can never understand it when I see people with loads of comments and not one reply! Fabulous post, blog and person! xxx

It’s plain inconsiderate when someone doesn’t reply to your comment like I’m not expecting a comment on my blog but an acknowledgement of mine would be appreciated! I have unfollowed people before because of this, purely because it makes their blog feel more superficial and less personal. xx

YES. I hate when people ignore comments! Sometimes I forget to reply, but I always go back later and reply. It’s just common courtesy to say something back!
I also agree with photography, it’s definitely not my strong suit! I’m trying hard to up my game, but it’s still a work in progress. Lovely post! xx

I totally agree with these! I will at least like someone’s comment, reply, then like it again if they respond- otherwise I’ll just message them so we don’t have a crazy long back & forth haha

I definitely agree with this list, although I’m not quite as concerned with the photography. Great photography is more enticing, but I’ll still click on a post even if the photos are ‘average’, as long as the topic looks interesting. I would say my photos are just average because I just use my camera phone. I also don’t always have one to two hours to spend on getting perfect photos because my job takes up so much of my time. It’s always dark outside when I’m not at work, so I have to deal with using horrible lighting. I try to make the best of what I have to work with though. 😛

Yes! so relatable I loved this post. Ignoring comments is definitely my number one blogging pet peeve :). I think Im guilty of the lack of grammar at times haha.

Ahaha yea photography is even a pet peeve on my own blog LOL! It’s bugging me going through my own posts (I exported my posts from a different blogging platform so now the photo quality is much lower because they were smaller on the old platform and they’re suddenly much bigger on here!)

Haha and seeing peoples comments on post like “hey great post check out my blog because i actually didnt read your post i just want more followers” makes me snicker a bit

The bad grammar/spelling thing is certainly brutal and also bothers me. I may let one little thing slip here and there by accident, but when it is consistent throughout the post I have a hard time finishing it!
I will say that there have been a few times when I have linked a particular post of mine in the comments of another person’s post, but that was only when it related to that post’s content. Do you think that is not ok? I think if it relates to the content and you genuinely think that the poster will be interested, then that is alright. But maybe that’s just me 🙂
Fun post! We all definitely love a little rant, whether we embrace it outwardly or not.

That’s so true! When it’s related it’s okay but when it is so clear that someone hasn’t taken the time to read your post they just want to share their blog, it’s frustrating 🙂 thank you for reading! X

I love this post, its so refreshing to see something real. We all have pet peeves about blogging, and I couldn’t agree more about interaction.

I do have to admit that I am pretty poor at imagery and grammar, I just love to blog and get far too excited to put a blog post out if I love it. I’m so impatient!

Also, your lay out is stunning!
    Em x

I totally agree with you on all these peeves.
Something that really annoys me are bloggers that seems to be nonexistent outside of their blog. Evn when you comment on one of their posts, their is not even a sign that they read it. Like, if you want people to read your posts at least take the 30 seconds to reply or acknowledge that other bloggers exist.
The photography on your posts is really on point by the way – super pretty 🙂
