Unpopular Opinions #3

It has been a while since I have done an unpopular opinions post, but they are one of my faves to read and write so today enjoy a very long overdue ranty post. If you want to read my other unpopular opinions posts then they are linked #1 and #2. For the second post, I themed it all about the struggles of working in retail and today I am going to theme it all about the struggles of being a woman. Let’s see how many men’s ego’s I crush in this post and how many unwanted messages I get about opinions on feminism hahaha.

Disclaimer: I am not saying everyone has these opinions and that I am anti-men. Just some people still don’t seem to understand that it is 2019 and equality shouldn’t even be something we still have to fight for.

Girls can swear as much as they want. The amount of men who comment on me swearing is ridiculous. I repeatedly get told to be more ladylike and stop swearing.  I understand that some people may be offended by language and I would respect that but to be told I can’t swear because I am a woman is just ridiculous and usually ends up in me telling them to fuck off.

Beer isn’t a mans drinks.  I know I have touched on this before but if I received a pound every time someone laughed or made some kind of remark about me drinking a mans drink I would probably be rich by now. I have been told to not drink beer on a date, not drink beer in a club and order a woman’s drink. It is just crazy, let me drink my beer in peace.

One night stands don’t make you a whore. We all know that there are so many issues with society but this is one that really gets to me. I have watched so many men in my life get congratulated for having one night stands and it automatically makes them a ‘lad’. But to watch girls get completely ripped apart and get called every name under the sun for doing the same is ridiculous. Some men preach about anti-feminism, but how can you expect women to stop fighting for equal rights when slut shaming is still a thing?

Not wearing makeup doesn’t make you look ill. Oh my god. This. I have had SO many fucking people ask me if I am okay or whether I am sick if I have a makeup-free day. It’s like nope hun this is just my face. It’s as if guys think that I am naturally tanned and contoured and my cheekbones are glowing by themselves like some Twilight shit.

Body hair isn’t a sign of laziness. I have witnessed so many people (girls included) slate women who don’t shave and I think it is just ridiculous. Guys can walk around with a jungle under their armpits and the hairiest legs in the world but god forbid if a woman has hairy legs. I have an extremely busy life and do you think I have time to shave EVERY day? No. I have even had a guy tell me my arms are too hairy. Hair removal is so expensive, time-consuming and painful – it is 2019 and about time that we normalise body hair.

You can want cosmetic surgery and still be body positive. This is something I feel so passionate about. I have wanted a nose job and lip fillers for as long as I can remember, but that doesn’t mean that I hate how I look, it just means I want to improve myself. I love myself now and I will love myself then. When I bring up wanting cosmetic surgery so many people say no you don’t, you just need more confidence and self-esteem. It is similar to wanting to lose weight, you can still lose weight and be body positive (as long as you’re doing it for the right reasons).

Thank you so much for joining me on another ranty post. If you liked this one be sure to check out others! – They’re not all this bitchy I promise haha! I want to thank you also for the support over on last weeks post, I was a little worried about uploading it because it was considerably shorter than normal, but you all seemed to love it nonetheless!

Until next time,

I have hairy arms too (not overly noticeable) but the hair doesn’t worry me and I don’t intend to remove it. If someone you’re with can’t respect your decisions for your own body I’m not sure I’d want to be around them. Great post lovely x

Agree with all of them! Another great post from you gorgeous. I’ve been thinking a long time about lip fillers. Like you say, it’s not that I don’t like what I am born with, I just want to enhance what I already have you know. Anna xxx

I agree with every single one of these! I wish I liked beer as it is so much cheaper than other drinks (£3 compared to £8 for a rum and coke, no thanks) and would be so much less hassle than having to buy spirits and mixers.
One night stands is definitely a double standard that I saw a lot at University. The boys would all get congratulated for hooking up with a girl but yet all the girls would get slut-shame?! Even the security were the same as it was always the girls that got stopped and questioned about the guys they were bringing in whereas the boys were just allowed to walk through. This may have been a safety aspect too in terms of girls being less able to fight off a boy but it definitely felt like shaming at the time.
Thank you for sharing as always. xx

Thank you for such a lovely comment – I am so glad you have similar views and agree! I honestly can’t believe slut shaming is still a thing. Sex is such a normal thing and if anything girls should get congratulated just as much as men! Thank you once again lovely xx
