January’s Feelings and Favourites

I have heard so many people complain about January blues and the struggle of the post-holiday season, but January has actually treated me so well and there are so many things I need to update you angels on.

Starting with my happiest and most important update – I have a boyfriend! If you know me personally then you will probably be screaming at the screen like yes Chloe we know, that’s all you talk about, but I am beyond happy and have already made so many memories. Me and Tom originally met 3 years ago and ended up losing contact but late last year we got back in touch and it is the best decision I have made. However, he is currently studying in Portsmouth, which means that distance is a major factor in our relationship and it’s the first long distance relationship I have ever been in. At first, I was worried it would be an issue, but it just means that our time together is treasured and valued so much more. January has been full of so many cute date days and weekends away and as cliche as the whole ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ saying is, it really is true. He is such an amazing man and I am over the moon. I plan on writing a blog post dedicated to long distance relationships so if you have any specific questions then be sure to comment them down below!

Another huge and exciting update is I have had a promotion! I went from a social media administrator to CEO PA and I am overjoyed. I will still be managing a few companies social media platforms but I am now more hands-on with advertising, finances and being the CEO’s PA. Now I am working between 40-50 hours a week but I will have much more responsibility and it means the entire world to me that I have been promoted so soon since starting my employment with the company.

This weekend in the UK we have been greeted by snow and it’s no secret that us Brits always go crazy when it comes to the weather so the world went mad for 24 hours. Now all of the pretty snow has turned into gross slush but it was gorgeous while it lasted and yesterday’s snow day consisted of exploring perfect insta-worthy places and slipping over way too many times. I have to admit though even though I was freezing from the weather and lack of practical winter clothes I still opted for an iced latte – am I stupid?

As you can tell by this post I am genuinely so happy and potentially in the most healthy and positive mindset I have been in for an extremely long time. And of course this is mostly due to the success of the month, but it’s also thanks to my new anti depressants. Towards the last half of the year my moods were all over the place, I was dissociating a lot and frankly quite reckless, I always tried to ignore it and put it down to stress from work, hormones or lack of stability in relationships but as life balanced out, my mood wasn’t improving. So at the beginning of December, I went back to the doctors for a very long overdue appointment and I am so pleased I went. Long story very short, I was prescribed a higher dose of Citalopram and I was a little hesitant to take them over Christmas because my doctor warned me that it will get worse before it gets better and oh boy, was she right. The nightmares, side effects, mood swings were awful, but once I got passed the 4-week mark it improved a lot and everything started to balance out. I now dissociate a lot less and in general, feel much more upbeat and energized. Yay!!

It makes me a little sad when people complain about January, it’s my birthday month and while I know it’s not a personal attack it almost feels like people can’t be bothered. I like January because it feels like a new start and I’m so pleased to hear you had a good month. Looking forward to reading the post on long distance relationships x

Congratulations on the boyfriend! Although not going to lie, it feels weird to be congratulating on you on being awesome enough to be in a relationship with another human being. One of my best friends is in a long distance relationship with her boyfriend currently and they always try to meet up on weekends. She said you value your time together more wisely as it is limited and also you are more productive during the weekdays!
Congratulations on the promotion! You deserve it so much. It just shows how well you are doing at your new job.
How are you finding the citalopram? I always found that it never really worked for me, although that could have been because my environment did not change during that time either – I was still unhappy and in a toxic friendship. xx

Thank you so much honey, thats so so sweet of you!! I always thought long distance relationships wouldnt be for me, but you really can make it work easily if you have the trust and love. Ngl I have been on citalopram since 2016 so its safe to say I have been on it for a very long time now. I feel like it works, I have had no negative symptoms from it apart from the initial side effects. xxxx

I had a similar experience with no side effects so I really wish it had worked for me but alas the only drug that I have found works for me also causes me to be tired all the time too. xx
