The Calm Before The Storm

I was so unsure about what I should post for this weeks post, I feel like I have so many ideas but when I go to write them down nothing really happens. I am starting to worry and fixate on the numbers again. Why aren’t my followers going up? Why aren’t I getting as many likes as I did last year? Is there still a place for me in the community? And I know this sounds so ungrateful because when I upload I receive the loveliest comments and endless amounts of support that it makes my heart so full and proves that I am an okay blogger. But the past month my mood has been so up and down and the worry of not being good enough is pretty apparent. Please tell me I am not the only one who feels like this sometimes?

So today’s post will be about anxiety management and what has been helping me relax, especially before bed this month. Starting with Feather and Down Pillow Spray, I feel like I have mentioned this product in a previous post but it has been a lifesaver this month so it would be silly not to show it some extra love. This is the only pillow spray I have ever used and it is so good that I’m not even tempted to shop around and try others. The scent is chamomile and lavender, so it is not as intense as just lavender and you don’t have to worry about getting headaches haha! I got this 100ml bottle from Boots for only £7 and I use around 3 sprays each time so a little definitely goes a long way, I have had mine since Christmas and I haven’t even made a dent in it.

Another Feather and Down product that is new to my collection is the Sleep Balm and I managed to pick this up in the Boots sale for only £3.50 (usually £7!) and its SO good, almost as good as the spray!! You apply a small amount on your pulse points and the scent is so calming and eases your mind, but not as strong as the spray. Apparently when you apply this product to your pulse points it lasts longer due to the beat of your heart. Whether this is true or not I don’t know! It contains Vitamin E, so it is very moisturising as well as being amazingly relaxing.

Sticking with the lavender theme, is candles! When I was in Brighton just before Christmas, I popped into Lavender Room on Bond Street and bought a gorgeous Lavender candle (take a shot every time I say lavender in this post). All of their products are made from 100% organic plant wax, so you know it is a good, clean burning candle. At £5.25 they are so affordable and actually smells whilst burning, don’t you hate it when you spend money on something that is literally pointless and doesn’t smell at all?! But luckily with Lavender Room they all smell incredible and the one I bought is called Relaxing and contains orange, geranium, lavender and ylang ylang, so it is quite a light fragrance compared to some lavender candles I have smelt.

Lastly, but potentially the most important part of this post is self love. I am always so busy either with work, blogging or trying to keep what little social life I have left. But this month I have really been trying to find time to relax in the evenings even if its for just an hour, so having long baths and listening to podcasts have been a go to.

If you have read my blog for a while, you will know I am a huge Lush lover, but I have actually decided to branch out and actually try something new, Neal’s Yard Remedies and I am obsessed. They specialise in health and organic health and beauty products and the bubble bath I use is the Aromatic Foaming Bath, containing their tranquil aromatherapy blend of lavender (surprise, surprise), Spanish Marjoram and Geranium essential oils to held unwind. However, if you use their products then remember to use it sparingly, unlike me who decided to throw tonnes in and create the bubbliest (and most pungent) bath ever. I felt a little high over how strong the smell was hahaha!

Now onto podcasts. Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place. Oh my god. Her podcast is the most down to earth, comforting thing ever. Some podcasts I have listened to seems so staged, forced and like you are just listening to an entertainment. Whereas with The Happy Place it feels like you are just listening to your friends chat, I especially love the episodes with Stephen Fry and Zoe Sugg that focuses on mental health.

I hope you all enjoyed this little haul and if you have any recommendations of other relaxing products then be sure to let me know in the comments below! Lots of love always.

Until next time,

I’ve been looking at Feather and Down for the longest time! When I run out of my Tisserand / Lush stuff I might have to give them a go 🙂
And don’t worry – I feel the exact same as you about blogging and posting – it can be hard to get past, but I’ve found I just have to keep posting and it goes better than planned!

So sorry to hear you’re feeling this way:( it’s easy to fall into the trap of numbers and endless questions of why things may not be happening the way you want them to, I’ve been there myself many times! At the end of the day this should be a creative and fun outlet for you, I know it’s easier said than done but have no expectations and as long as you’re enjoying yourself and creating content that you’re happy with (if you put pressure on yourself it can be easy to become unhappy with all of your content, so make sure that’s not the case) then that’s all that matters. You will ALWAYS have a place here, your blog is one of my favourites!! This was a great post as always xxx

OMG you are such an angel, Thank you so much for always being a huge supporter and a fab friend. Your words mean the world to me, it is so easy to focus on the numbers and make your worth dependent on the likes and follows, but having fab followers like you makes the doubt disappear so thank you so much honey bun!! xxx
