A Trip to Alton Towers

Hello huns, it feels so nice to be back into blogging regularly and actually schedule in posts like a good blogger. Last month was a very crazy one as you all probably know by now considering the amount I am rambling on and on about my birthday. BUT I am still catching you guys up on everything I have been getting up to and something special I haven’t talked about is Alton Towers and why my trip away was so amazing!

When my parents divorced 11 years ago, me and my dad got in the routine of going away each year to Alton Towers for a weekend away and this happened for about 6 years until life got way too busy. But for my 21st he surprised me with two tickets and said I should take a friend – but obviously, I wanted him to come with me and spoiler alert: it was such a fun way to start my 21st celebrations.

Even though our tickets were for Sunday and Monday, our trip began on Saturday, which took the pressure of having to wake up early Sunday and rush to the park as it was about a 3-hour journey. We stayed on site in their brand-new Stargazing Pods, which were so cute. Small, but cute! Even though they were made to sleep 4 people, the two of us was a bit of a squeeze so I don’t recommend them for a family of 4 – plus it is worth noting that the bathrooms are communal. Once we arrived we headed straight to the pub that is located in the Alton Towers hotel and drank so many pints and hobbled to the restaurant – typical Burford style haha!

On Sunday with a coffee in one hand, in hope that it cures the hangover, we make our way to the park and its safe to say the adrenaline from the rides made us wave goodbye to our hangovers. The first ride we headed to was Nemesis, our all-time favourite and one of the oldest rollercoasters in the theme park. It is so fast that you get off the ride with wobbly legs, it’s insane.

When you think of Alton Towers, you think of rollercoasters and constant fun and adrenaline. But surprisingly they have the most beautiful gardens – it looks like a National Trust garden it’s that perfect!! So obviously I had to take the opportunity to have a mini photo-shoot. Get yourself a dad who is your personal photographer.

Their newest ride is the Wicker Man and it’s the UK’s first wooden rollercoaster to be built in 20 years, which makes it even scarier! It was by far our favourite one there but the most terrifying. You know when you go on a ride and scream and smile and have a fun time? With this one we were screaming with terror, we didn’t have smiles on our faces, we had faces of pure fear hahaha. There were two teens in front of us that didn’t even scream or flinch, but then you have me and my dad who is screaming at the top of our lungs and swearing like there is no tomorrow.

This is where it gets funny. So we all know by now that whenever I go away on holiday I end up being ill, and obviously, I kept up the tradition and was bloody sick all night long. I think I went a bit over the top with the number of rollercoasters I went on and my body couldn’t hack it – I spent the night running in and out of the shed and throwing up hahaha. Keeping it classy as always.

After a bit of a lie in to try and recover from the eventful night, we made our way back to the park. Another new addition to Alton Towers is The Dungeon, which you have to prebook tickets for and is a 45-minute attraction. At first, we were a bit like why do you need to buy another set of tickets for an attraction when we have already paid enough to get into the park, but I promise you it is SO worth it. You join a group of others and go on a tour all about the history of Alton and the plague, but it is in a terrifying and funny way. If you are thinking of going then make sure you are okay with talking in front of people and there are a few jump scares, but it is all fun and games.

Before we left we made sure to go back on all of our favourite rides, Nemesis, Thirteen, Rita, Hex, River Rapids and of course, the Wicker Man. I absolutely loved this trip, it was the best way to start my birthday celebrations and I am so lucky to be able to call my dad my best friend.

I hope you all enjoyed this follow me around post and are excited about more birthday posts coming your way!

Until next time,

Aww of course! HAHA, a limit is there for ya to push it amirite? HAHAHA. That is so heartwarming to hear seriously, most dads I know abandon their families, are abusive or are just absent in general. Happy belated birthday sweetie, I can’t wait to read how else you celebrated your birthday!

so cute that you went with your dad to carry on the tradition !! I actually didn’t know they had gardens at Alton Towers (I’ve only been a couple of times when I was younger) but I’d love to go back at some point! xx

The stargazing pods are so cute but they do look a bit small! I went to Alton Towers at the start of May and it was so much fun although quite a few of the rides were shut sadly, including Air (probably luckily as I had not been back since the accident a few years ago and was a bit hesitant to ride it). I currently live near Thorpe Park and love going on all of the rides! xx

They are super cute and being so close to the park means that being in such a small little hut is worth it! Air has now been renamed Galatica which is super odd. I was a bit scared to go back to alton tbh after the accident, and theres a lot less queues than what it used to be. Thanks for reading!xxx

Aw it’s so special that you chose to take your Dad even though he said you could take a friend, and this sounds like such a lovely place which holds amazing memories for the two of you.

I haven’t been to Alton Towers in years but I never noticed all the gardens before, they look stunning 😍 My favourite ride there would have to be Air! I also like Steath and 13.

It sounds like you had an amazing start to your birthday hun, and it was lovely your Dad suprised you with the tickets!
