Unpopular Opinions #4

Happy Friday honeys – I haven’t written one of these for so long and I don’t have a clue why as they’re always so much fun to read and write, the other three will be linked at the bottom of this post! We all know I love a good rant so I hope that you all enjoy this post.

IMG_8424.JPG

I don’t like that Instagram is removing likes.
I think this is the most shocking opinion of the post as Instagram are removing them for a positive reason and to benefit us, not them. As bloggers, we all know how damaging social media can be, but I think we should be able to have a choice whether likes are visible or not. I know everyone preaches about ‘it’s not about the numbers’ but you would be lying if you weren’t happy when your post reaches a certain number of likes, it’s nice to see a post do well. It doesn’t make you self-centred. We should definitely be able to have the option of visible likes or not rather than just getting rid of them.

Tattoos don’t have to have a meaning behind them.
So I have two tattoos, a yin yang symbol on my wrist and a heart on my index finger and I got them when I was in my teens. My first was the yin yang and I got it at the height of my depression to remind me that there is always good in the bad and bad in the good, so the meaning is pretty strong and close to my heart. Whereas my heart finger tatt is completely random and I often get told that its a bit pointless and why would I get a tattoo without a meaning. Usually, I try to justify it but on the other hand, I also think fuck it. Why should it have a meaning, if I want a cool tatt just because it’s cool, I’ll get it.

Cosmetic surgery isn’t a bad thing.
I have wanted lip fillers and a nose job for as long as I can remember, but every time I bring it up I always get a negative reaction. When people think about cosmetic surgery they automatically think of botch jobs and criticise me for even contemplating it, but then a minute later all I hear is how hot Kylie Jenner is. Kylie looks incredibly different from what she did prior to surgery and now she is commended for her good looks. So why am I, an average person, criticised for wanting work done but a celeb isn’t?!

You don’t need to have a honeymoon phase.
In my previous relationships, I have always had a honeymoon phase and for those who don’t know what that is. Its the first part of a relationship where you agree with anything your other half says and everything is sunshine and roses. But me and Harry haven’t had that and it may be due to the fact we were work colleagues and were already close, but nonetheless, I am so relieved. From the beginning there was no falseness, I was belly laughing on the first date and the first time I stayed over I was makeup-less and we were in our comfies by 7pm, everything has been so normal from the start. Yes, our relationship is so new and so exciting but everything is so natural and I don’t think I have ever been so comfortable with someone so soon.

The UK heatwave we’re having is awful.
If you are in the UK you will know we have been greeted by an unexpected heatwave, and I think I am the only person who is hating every minute of it. It’s humid, sweaty, gross and as its, the UK no-one has A/C. Please, can it be Autumn already so I can pull out my jumpers and stop having to shave my legs every goddamn day?

I see where you’re coming from about the Instagram likes and giving each individual the option to turn likes on or off and honestly I’m a little indifferent about the whole thing. Some people may try and exaggerate how many like they’re getting and make up stories etc.

If you want tattoos and/or cosmetic surgery it’s not up to anyone else but you – sure you hear horror stories but surgery is probably safer than it was 20 years ago and you can do research beforehand.

I feel for you not having any air con, excessive heat is horrible!

I know, we defo need the option, its so nice seeing which accounts like and support you. IK feel like people will start to upload less too. Thats so true, theres so much stigma with surgery, people only ever talk about the super ancient horror stories not all the positive ones!! Thank you so so much for always supporting me and leaving such a kind comment xxx

You’re right, people may start to upload less. It’s interesting how hiding the likes was being ‘trialled’ and it just seems to have stuck around…

You’re welcome, supporting fellow bloggers/online friends is part of the fun ❤️

Ahh I can totally relate with the heat-wave in the uk, it’s always so difficult to manage as we don’t have A/C’s or any other means to connect it. It always gets so humid and sweaty. I’m so looking forward to autumn as it’s my favourite season! Who doesn’t love a bonfire night and gingerbread latte! 🍂😍

Hm! I didn’t know Instagram were actually removing likes! Does that mean we can still like photos and have our photos liked, but we just can’t see the number of likes? Yeah, I guess maybe it should be an option but I can see where they’re coming from though and it’s actually coming from a good place, so yeah, I guess I’m indifferent! But maybe you’re right, there should be a choice!

And yeah tattoos don’t have to have a meaning. Both my tatts are completely random and I got them drunk when I was in Magaluf, but one of them is definitely very special and has its own meaning to it as it’s matching with my best friends. Your tattoos sound lovely and you totally don’t need to justify your heart tattoo! Who cares!?!?

Cosmetic surgery, not for me but if you want it done then so be it! Who am I to judge or even care? Literally so what! I dye my hair, I wear makeup. It’s all enhancing our looks soooo…. seriously. I think it’s one of those things, you getting a nose job will affect nobody else’s life so what does it matter!? Do what makes YOU feel good!

And your relationship sounds like ultimate goals 💓💓💓 so happy for ya hun! X

Thank you so much for reading and leaving a comment, it has made my day!! It’s so nice to be part of such a lovely blogging community! Yeah so we can’t see what likes everyone’s got, so I think they do have good intentions, but I don’t know if everyone agrees! Omg that’s amazing that you’ve got a magaluf tatt, I think it’s such a good reminder of a holiday and fun night, some people are so anti drunk tattoos but I think they’re amazing! Omg you’re the sweetest angel ever thank you so so much once again for being so thoughtful! Xxxx

There is way too much emphasis on the whole likes system but I do hate that Instagram is only removing it to better their own profits and masking it as a positive movement. I agree with the tats and surgery! Its so nice that you actually found someone you can be so comfortable with! HAHA i hate the heat and i live in a tropical country and i can never get used to it, luckily your season changes and this heatwave is going to be temporary! This was really interesting to read!

Thank you so much for leaving support and love on my blog girl! It means the world, so thank you. Yeah I think insta is defo doing it for themselves and not us, it does make me wonder whether any other social media platform will become more popular once they start removing likes! OMG I don’t think I could deal with how hot is in your country, I would be moaning permanently hahaha. Thank you so much once again xxx

I agree with the tattoos thing and cosmetic surgery thing it’s your body so you can do whatever the f*** you want with it and if someone doesn’t like it they can f*** off I mean it’s not like they have to get anything done (excuse the language) 😂😂 also this heatwave is actually horrible, I would much rather be wrapped up in a cosy blanket with a hot chocolate watching cute autumnal leaves fall of the trees outside haha. Love these posts xxxx

Wow, I had no idea that Instagram was removing likes!! Mine are still up, but maybe they haven’t fully implemented it yet? That’s so odd! I definitely agree that you should always have the choice at least!

Also am so with you on the whole “honey moon” phase thing! Not all relationships have to start that way because each relationship is unique! Alejandro and I never really had a “honey moon” phase, but I also think it’s because we were friends first! I immediately felt comfortable with him so never got nervous. But that’s what I love about our relationship — that we can be ourselves!

Love your post as usual, Chloe!! x

Thats so lovely that you didnt have the honeymoon phase either, I also love how natural my relationship is. Being so open and yourself is so amazing and what makes a relationship so good! Thank you so much for leaving such a sweet comment, youre so so kind!!xxx

I am quite interested to see how Instagram is going to change with not showing the number of likes. I don’t know if I really like that idea but we will see.
Isn’t that bad for all the brand who work with influencers? They only see the followers then and not how many people actually like their post 🤷‍♀️
I don’t think every tattoo needs to have a big meaning. You like it so you got it and I think that’s absolutely fine.
    Great post xx

The whole Instagram removing likes thing is great for some people because it means they can post whatever they want without fear of judgement over how many likes it gets, but I think there should be an option in the settings to turn likes on or off because some people such as Instagram Influencers are making money from their posts, it’s literally their job, so they need to know what content their viewers enjoy, it would be like removing likes on here, we’d never know if anyone actually liked our posts!
Cosmetic surgery is fine in my opinion, I mean practically everyone I know wants a nose job, and that’s fine, it’s your face, you do you, why should anyone else have to comment on what you’re doing with your own face?
I don’t think tattoos need to have a meaning if you want a specific one that means something, then sure, go for it, but if you just see a design and think ‘that’s cute, I want it’ then go for it!
Amazing post, so interesting – I love these posts so much!

I know, its so silly why people think tattoos need a meaning, its your body you can do whatever you want!!! Thank you so so much once again, your support is so amazing!xxxx

Oooooo YES GIRL. Love these !! I’ve had an unpopular opinions post in my drafts for a while now that I should probably get around to uploading but haven’t because I’m too scared since I haven’t uploaded one in the longest time !! Completely agree on the tattoo thing, I have more tattoos that have no meaning than ones that do – mostly they’re for art purposes, because tattoos are art, right? They don’t need a meaning. As long as you like it, who cares. Also 100% agree on the cosmetics thing, I’m having some stuff done next month & everyone I talk to is completely against it but I think, they’re only subtle changes that are going to make THE biggest difference in my confidence and it’s MY body, my choice. If you want those things done – go for it !! Also, yes, please let’s get rid of this heatwave hahaha it’s vile and I hate it. Bring back the good old rain !! xxx

Omg girl you need to upload it, I would absolutely love to read it!! Mind you, I was bloody nervous to upload mine, you never know how people will react so the support you always give me means so so much to me. Tattoos are so incredible and I always find it so fascinating what people chose to decorate their body, I hate people who are so judgemental for no reason! I get so happy when its miserable weather I feel like you can be more productive in the rain! Thank you so much once again for the lovely comment honey!xxxxx

I definitely agree that we should all get more spontaneous tattoos but I always remember how often I think about tattoos I would like to get and let’s say I would definitely regret it if I got everyone I thought of! But if you are dead-set on a tattoo, you should not not get it because you cannot find a meaning behind it.
My boyfriend and I never really had a honeymoon phase either and we are still going strong a year later! I think it is more important to be able to be yourself with your boyfriend, like you would with your best friends, rather than pretend to be someone else for a while. My boyfriend is my best friend and I would not have it any other way.
Thank you for sharing as always. xx

Thank you so much for reading and leaving such a lovely comment as always gorgeous. Thats very true, I know so many people who have random tattoos but create a fake meaning just so people dont give them shit for having a meaningless tattoo! I think being open is so important and being comfortable is what makes a relationship so stable! Thank you so much once again xxx

YES YES YES! A. i freaking love these posts of yours. B. I massively agree with the tattoos point! I have loads of tattoos and I love them, BUT not all of them have to be for some deep and meaningful purpose. I’ve got loads of them because of the artistry of them and that’s good enough for me. In terms of cosmetic surgery, you’re gorgeous as you are but it’s the same as tattoos…you don’t NEED it, but if it’s something you want to do for you and it’ll make you happy bloody go for it! xx

Love unpopular opinions posts! I agree with so many of these! Especially agree about the tattoos. I find it odd when people act like every tattoo has to have such a deep meaning. Sometimes you get a tattoo just because you like how it looks, you like the design, etc. That itself IS a meaning in my opinion, and it’s sufficient. People have very strong opinions about tattoos though lol.
I didn’t realize Instagram was completely removing likes. I thought they were just hiding them from our followers but we could still see our own. So that is kind of disappointing because I’d like to know who is liking my pictures. :/
Anyway love this post! Thanks for sharing! (And also, so glad to have found your blog. I’ve been loving your IG, so it’s nice to connect on here too!)
